About

Suraj. designer. builder. experimenter. India. 2026.

I make the tool I couldn’t find.

Then I build it myself.

I try the odd idea first.

I mind when it’s a pixel out.

About a year in. Freelance, and still a student.

Process

  1. Notice. It starts with something that annoyed me. Before I draw anything I write down who it is for, what they do first, and what can go. Zimoma started as one line: be writing within three seconds.
  2. Wireframe. Boxes first. If it doesn’t work in grey, colour won’t save it. One job per screen. The first thing you see should be the thing you came for. Unikist was redesigned three times before its home page became one text field.
  3. Design. One accent, and it only ever means one thing. A few colours, one typeface, and a rule for what each of them is allowed to mean. In Parla the lime only ever means “this is yours” or “press this”.
  4. Prototype. Then it has to move. A flow I can’t touch is a guess. I prototype the gesture, not the screen: what the hand does, and what answers it. In Khlosh, holding a drag for 0.8 seconds is the difference between reorder and split.
  5. Build. Then I build it myself, so nothing gets lost in a handoff. Easing, empty states, the screen for when it breaks. The feel is in the code, not the mock-up. Mr Gradient’s shader has a second copy on the CPU, just to check the first.
  6. Ship. And then it goes out. Things break in public that never broke in Figma. That is the reason to ship. Six of the seven projects here are on the internet right now.
